Tsukiyomi Visual Image Society

The term “Tsukiyomi” is derived from the illusionary technique Tsukuyomi used in the Japanese manga series, Naruto. The illusionary technique has the power to replicate with great intricacies, as to lure out the entranced subject’s inner emotions and project their desires, whereby trapping the subject in his or her own illusion. This “image production” concept is reinterpreted here to open up multifaceted studies on contemporary photography.

“Re-Base: When Experiments Become Attitude” will explore the meaning and possibilities of experimentation in the contemporary context of standardization repression. The project will marry the opened-up old space to the reconstructed new one; the newly resurrected base will then serve as a platform for dialogue as well as a place for convergence.
The Alternative Guide of Time

This research exhibition project is an investigation as well as a re-imagination on the context of the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) via object history, oral history, images, cartographies, texts, and acoustic scenes. Serving as a psycho-geographical exploration into a 7-hectare area in the east Taipei, the exhibition, titled “The Alternative Guide of Time”, superimposes historical constellations of space and time that span from the reality to fiction, guiding the audience to revisit the context from the Industrial Research Institute of the Taiwanese Governor-General’s Office during the Japanese rule to the Air Force Command Headquarters period with interdisciplinary cultural production.
