2024 Future Media FEST - Singularity|Artist Talks: Session 3, Session 4

Throughout the exhibition, four artist talks will be held, moderated by curators WU Dar-Kun, Angie LEE Chia-Lin, and CHUANG Wei-Tzu. The discussions will delve into themes such as the passage of time and generational shifts, the history and critique of AI, and the societal implications of artificial intelligence development. These insightful conversations will feature participating artists from Taiwan and around the world, offering a platform for them to share their unique creative visions and the context behind their work.

Speaker Bio

Session 3
▌Riar RIZALD
Riar RIZALDI works as an artist and filmmaker. He works predominantly with the medium of moving images and sound, both in the black-box of cinema settings as well spatial presentation as installation. His artistic practice focuses mostly on the relationship between technology, labor, and nature, worldviews, genre cinema, and the possibility of theoretical fiction. His works have been shown at various international film festivals (including Locarno, IFFR, FID Marseille, Viennale, BFI London, Cinema du Reel, Vancouver, etc.) as well as Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Biennial, Taipei Biennial, Istanbul Biennial and other venues and institutions. In addition, recent solo exhibitions and focus programs of his works had been held at Gasworks London, Z33 Hasselt, Centre de la photographie Genève, and Batalha Centro de Cinema Porto amongst others.

 

▌WEI Ze
Born in Taiwan in 1985, WEI's creative endeavors spring from her profound interest in historical recontextualization, counterfactual history, and their interplay with the contemporary global landscape. She adeptly employs diverse media and theoretical exploration as she embarks on her creative projects, all with the intention of delving into current global issues and cultivating multifaceted perspectives on a myriad of subjects.

Drawing inspiration from her living environment and life experiences, her creative themes emanate organically. These creative projects consist of a plurality of works, utilizing an array of media from varying domains to effectively convey the thematic essence. The viewpoints woven into each project harmonize intricately with the overarching concept of "territory-boundaries," encompassing critical themes like globalization, human migration, dispersion, and diversity.

 

▌CHUANG Wei-Tzu
The curator of C-LAB and the former Editor in Chief of Artist Magazine. CHUANG Wei-Tzu has been highly interested in the diversity of contemporary art in Taiwan. Her research focuses on the change of artistic ideas and technology rendered in the exhibition and performance, as well as the gender issues in art history. Her recent curatorial projects are Project: The Folly (2021, nominated for the 20th Taishin Arts Award), (De)phallocentrism (2022) ,  The Unrestricted Society(2022), Signal Z(2023).

 

 

Session 4
▌Luca BONACCORSI
Luca BONACCORSI is a video and sound artist from Italy. His works explore human relationships amid technology and new media and their effects on daily life. In recent years has relocated to Taipei, Taiwan, to pursue his artistic research through multi-media arts practice and live performances.

 

▌2ENTER
2ENTER is composed of new media artists CHEN Cheng-Wei, CHIU Chieh-Yi, CHUANG En-Chi, and LIOU Ji-Rong, primarily focusing on visual art creation using real-time computing, data visualization combined with animation, and utilization of game engines. Their works have been exhibited at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, the Taipei Museum of Contemporary Art, the Kaohsiung Museum of Art, and the Naha Culture and Arts Center in Japan.

 

▌CHUANG Wei-Tzu
