This workshop centers on the theme of how emotionally moving images are constructed, inviting participants to explore the connection between visuals and emotion through viewing, analysis, and creative practice. We will begin by watching a selection of carefully curated music video clips and discussing the scenes and narrative strategies that evoke emotional resonance. This is not only an anatomical study of visual language but also a collective reflection on the mechanisms of empathy.
Throughout the discussion, we will attempt to identify common elements found in emotionally powerful imagery, such as composition, lighting and color, character dynamics, and sound design. Following that, participants will engage in a creative experiment: using emotionally expressive texts they write themselves, and with the assistance of GPT-based tools, they will generate emotionally charged images. This exercise will explore how AI can contribute to the creation of affective visuals and how such technologies might respond to or amplify human emotions.
In the final segment, participants will have the opportunity to present their generated works, share reflections from the process, and engage in collective inquiry around the question: is something “moving” a constructed effect, or does it emerge from shared memory and cultural resonance? No prior experience in image production is required—this workshop welcomes anyone interested in visual storytelling, narrative, and emotion.
