Manufacturing/Deconstructing "Vietnam": Navigations Across Cinematic Representations|CHANG Shih-Lun

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War (1955–1975). The talk takes NGUYEN Trinh Thi's exhibited work Vietnam the Movie as a point of departure to analyze and deconstruct how narrative cinema shapes historical memory related to nationhood. By tracing the thread of "Vietnam in film history," the talk will explore possible ways in which images can intervene in and disrupt dominant narratives.
