2025 IRCAM Sound Off: Echo Chamber

Echo Chamber

This project centers on the theme of the Echo Chamber, presenting an immersive work that integrates multichannel electronic music, projection, and lighting. Through Ambisonics or discrete channel control techniques, sound is spatialized via a multichannel speaker system, allowing it to echo, intersect, and flow dynamically throughout the space. Audio signals are processed and output in real time using DAWs or Max/MSP, creating a sonic experience of self-reinforcing resonance. The visual design—including lighting and projections—responds to the rhythm and emotional shifts of the music, using warm and cool tones and trailing imagery to visualize the echo effect. As sound and image continuously repeat, mutate, and recombine, the audience is immersed in a chamber where auditory and visual echoes interact—prompting reflection on how perception and reality are amplified, distorted, and reshaped.
