Immersive Labs in Taipei

Immersive Labs in Taipei is an international co-creation program initiated by C-LAB Future Vision Lab in collaboration with SAT (Société des arts technologiques, Montréal).

The program is part of the international Labos Immersifs / Immersive Labs initiative, originally developed by AADN (Lyon, France), and subsequently hosted by SAT in 2025 and CULTVR in 2026, serving as a rotating platform for immersive creation and methodological exchange. At its core, the program emphasizes co-creation as a methodology, fostering cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary collaboration to explore new approaches to fulldome-based immersive creation and to establish sustainable networks for international artistic exchange in Asia and beyond.

The Taipei edition takes place at the FVL DOME over an intensive six-day program, bringing together artists from Taiwan and abroad to collaboratively explore immersive audiovisual creation, including image, sound, and interactive practices. A total of 11 artists are selected through an open call and institutional nominations from international partners. The program concludes with a public showcase and audience exchange at the FVL DOME.

    On the weekend before the workshop, we invite ｍesocosm from Montreal to present a live performance of Terra Flecta at the FVL DOME.Terra Flecta, by the mesocosm trio, stages a journey into speculative extraterrestrial biomes. Crafted during their Satosphère residency, the work melds photogrammetric visuals derived from Québec’s contaminated localities with experimental soundscapes, exploring futuristic possibilities and environmental narratives.Terra Flecta takes inspiration from the mesocosm, a scientific apparatus used to scale down environmental elements into an encapsulated ecosystem to examine and experiment with its inner dynamics and characteristics while simulating its external actors.We use this concept as a methodology to create several audiovisual milieus that portray a speculation of possible futures within the remnants of human ruins. The proposed environments are inspired by sci-fi aesthetics. They explore the relationships between relics from non-human and environmental entities inhabiting Terra Flecta through playful hues and complex sonic gestures, creating moments for the public to question their attunement to both human and non-human surroundings.

    mesocosm

    Montreal trio mesocosm, collaboration between videographer Emma Forgues, musician Philippe Vandal and Joël Lavoie, sets out to explore autonomous ecosystem loosely constructed from a blend of modular syntheses, field recordings, evocative computer-generated elements and live video manipulation. Orchestrated from this universe’s erratic and unpredictable soundscape reminiscent of glitch, noise, ambient and electroacoustics, a new reality will emerge, teetering on the edge of chaos and harmony, a veritable symbiosis between the synthetic and the organic.
