Anri SALA is renowned for his video works, yet the use of sound and music in his practice has always carried distinct significance. This lecture will take his work Take Over as a starting point to introduce several of SALA’s creations from past to recent years, examining how he uses “sound” to guide viewers into different layers of reality. The talk will also explore the political dimensions of sound in contemporary art and how attentive listening can lead us deeper into the artist’s inquiries and the social issues he engages with.
