Every household has accumulated many once-popular audiovisual media formats—such as 16mm、8mm film reels, VHS, DV, and DVDs—that carry family memories, records of events, and traces of personal history. However, as playback equipment has become increasingly difficult to obtain today, converting these materials into digital files has seemingly become the only practical way to view and revisit them.
This event not only introduces how these formats can be transformed into digital files, but also discusses the differences in presentation between digital files and original media, as well as their respective methods of preservation. It further invites participants to consider the possibility of building their own archives through the process of collecting and converting these materials.
