The underpasses of Taipei once shouldered the weighty responsibility of allowingpeople to pass through the city. However, with changes in transport and spatialarrangement, fewer people were using the underpasses, and the old structuresbecame a safety hazard. Since 2016, large percentages of underpasses in Taipei Cityhave been dismantled. Today, only 37 underpasses remain, and the number continuesto decrease as the years go by.

By personally investigating and visiting the sites, the artists realize that theseunderground “passages” are intimately connected with the urban developments ofnearby areas. Using light as their medium, the art collective induces conversation andinteraction with this disappearing space.
