Open Call for Submissions by Sound Engineers to Join the 2020 CREATORS International Exchange Project – Centre Pompidou IRCAM
2020.01.03(FRI)

To promote the development of sound arts in Taiwan, the Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) and the Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music (IRCAM) of France signed an agreement in 2018. Based on this agreement, the Taiwan Sound Lab was established, paving the way for exchange visits, co-productions, and collaborative research and development, exhibitions, and performances.

Relevant projects and programs formally began in 2019, such as the IRCAM x C-LAB RENDEVOUZ international forum. IRCAM Director Frank Madlener and artists, scholars and professionals from Taiwan were invited to discuss the evolution of Taiwan’s sound culture and development of relevant technologies. C-LAB and IRCAM also collaborated on the 2019 CREATORS International Exchange Project – Centre Pompidou IRCAM. Submissions were accepted from creators integrating sound technologies across disciplines. In mid-June 2019, there were visits to the technology-based Festival ManiFeste in France. Moreover, at the 2019 C-LAB Sound Festival: DIVERSONICS, numerous works from Taiwan and France were exhibited, highlighting the diversity of sound arts.

For the 2020 CREATORS International Exchange Project – Centre Pompidou IRCAM submissions from sound engineers and technology-related professionals are invited. Those who are selected will travel to France to participate in three-day IRCAM Forum Workshops from March 4 to 6, 2020. These IRCAM-organized workshops will provide opportunities for those who are passionate about technology-based creative works that incorporate sound and music to share professional experience, technology research and development efforts, and application development platforms with IRCAM’s research and development team, computer music designers, artists-in-residence, and professionals working in related fields.

It is expected that through this exchange project Taiwan’s sound engineers and technology professionals will develop international connections and explore diverse and forward-looking technology applications.
