SLEEP1237 brings together reading, streaming, tea, food and beer for a night’s enquiry to the question, “How can we have an aesthetics of sleep – of sensing, experiencing, doing and perceiving – without consciousness? ”
C-LAB Sound Festival: Diversonics

The Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) has established the Taiwan Sound Lab in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music (IRCAM) of France. The purpose is to explore the integration of new sound technologies, arts and culture. To announce its opening at C-LAB, these two organizations are presenting the C-LAB Sound Festival from November 22 to November 30, with sound technology works from Taiwan and France at C-LAB and Taipei Zhongshan Hall.

Public Spittoon Pride? The Anti-spitting Movement in Hong Kong, New York, and Shanghai

This talk departs from the first controversy over the anti-spitting movement in a Chinese community (which occurred in Hong Kong between 1907 to 1909) and traces back to the origin of the movement launched by the Health Department of New York City in the 1890s, further extending to the anti-spitting movement launched in Shanghai in the 1930s.

An explosive concert that brings together the musicians from L’Instant Donné with IRCAM. The composers, all of whom have passed through IRCAM, stimulate instrumental gesture through technology.

Here, perspective is used as a mode of representation and a system for the set design: the technique of photograms in which you scan and compose real images—here unfinished constructions in the south of Italy—with very different points of view. The 3D virtual décor will be modified live by the vibrations and distortions of the quartet.
