Since its launch in 2020, C-LAB Future Vision Lab has consistently developed FUTURE VISION LAB, an experimental exhibition and performance project that engages in building a digital, experimental architectural site in a dome shape with its vision of exploring the visual limits of technology media. In 2023, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, it is able to expand and upgrade to “FVL DOME”. In terms of size, it is built as a movable DOME with a diameter of 15 meters. The audio-visual hardware and software have undergone several iterations, overcoming the image warping, calibration, mapping, play control, and video pre-production. The immersive image projection system achieves a total resolution of up to 8K*8K. Internally, a double-layer structure conceals the equipment, and a new-type of acoustically transparent projection membrane custom-made according to extensive discussions with the industry sector. In collaboration with Taiwan Sound Lab, a more refined sound field environment has been constructed, enhancing the system to a 25.4-channel immersive surround sound system. In the future, the Future Vision Lab will continue to develop immersive dome environments to meet international standards, showcasing Taiwan’s energetic creativity and providing audiences with a superior immersive sensory experience.
To broaden the possibilities of creative planning and support long-term production needs, FUTURE VISION LAB will open calls for proposals for the years 2025 and 2026, respectively, during June and July of this year. Through this format, we aim to:
- Encourage creators to select the appropriate year based on the scale and development timeline of their work;
- Offer greater flexibility in application schedules, allowing artists to adjust their proposals and production timelines according to their needs;
- Optimize program scheduling and production support processes, thereby strengthening the platform’s long-term development framework.
As the proposal categories differ between the two years (see detailed guidelines below), applicants are encouraged to assess their project plans and select the appropriate year for submission. Proposals will be reviewed separately according to the selected year, and the selected projects will be announced in August 2025 (for 2025 proposals) and October 2025 (for 2026 proposals).

For any questions, please contact us via email at:[email protected]
Q&A:
Q1: Do I have to perform in the FVL DOME?
A: Yes, it is mainly performed in the FVL DOME. However, it can be extended to the surrounding open areas after coordination and evaluation with the Construction and Maintenance Department.
Q2: What is the format of the video and the sound?
A: Please refer to the relevant technical instructions stated in the guideline. For live performances or special needs, you can email us for inquiries. You can also discuss with the technical team in the future.
Q3: If a work was not selected in the final results of the 2025 call, can it be submitted again in the 2026 call?
A: Yes, it can. However, a new application form for the 2026 call must be completed, and all required review materials must be provided in full. Any missing documents will result in disqualification from the preliminary review.
Q4: When will the presentation period likely be? When can testing and rehearsals begin?
A: After selection, rehearsal schedules will be evaluated and discussed based on the confirmed performance dates. The timeline for on-site testing and rehearsals will then be coordinated with the C-LAB team.
Q5: How should the budget form—one of the required documents for LIVE/real-time performance proposals—be prepared?
A: Since the main funding category for this open call is for exhibition/performance expenses, the budget should focus on personnel costs needed for the performance, essential travel and transportation costs, and equipment rental fees necessary for the on-site presentation. The budget form will serve as an important reference for funding approval. Please use the official template provided; do not use any other format.
Q6: Can I do sound experimental works without video?
Ans: FUTURE VISION LAB mainly equipped with high-definition video and immersive sound system. If it is a work without video, it is suggested to establish a connection from the space atmosphere. You can refer to the "TECHNOIA" in the Lab Kill Lab exhibition or one of the FUTURE VISION LAB 2021 works- "The Sun" on the Facebook fan page.
Q7: Can I perform during the day?
A: The FVL DOME is a fully light-blocked structure, allowing screenings and performances to take place during the daytime. However, considering C-LAB’s campus activities and audience habits, it is recommended to schedule performances between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.. The exact time slots and number of performances will be finalized by the organizer based on the overall festival programming after selection.
Q8: The fields of the application system are inconvenient for graphic layout, how can I provide additional information?
A: You can fill in the basic text content description in the field. Others that need to be explained with pictures and texts or other methods can be provided as PDF files and uploaded in the attachment area.
Q9: Can I still apply if my project has received other funding support?
A: Yes, you can apply, as this open call provides exhibition/performance funding rather than production funding. As long as there is no conflict with other production subsidies, submission is allowed. However, if other funding programs (such as those from the Ministry of Culture, National Culture and Arts Foundation, or TAICCA) have specific exclusion clauses, you may risk losing the originally approved funding from those organizations. It is strongly recommended that you confirm with the original funding institution beforehand to ensure there are no conflicts.
Q10: Can the application language be in English?
Ans: There is no nationality limit for the application. C-LAB is a field full of international exchanges and experimental objectives. Of course, English is no problem.
Q11: Can a work originally created in another format be adapted into a dome projection or performance and submitted?
A: Yes, it can. However, it is recommended that the team carefully consider the feasibility of adapting the work to a dome environment, including the narrative quality of the visuals and the audience experience. It's important to evaluate whether the original concept or format can still be effectively preserved in this new setting.
Q12: How long is the suggested duration of the program?
A: The recommended time for video screening is at least 12 minutes, and the recommended time for live performance is at least 25 minutes. However, it also depends on the content of the proposal and can be coordinated and adjusted.
Q13: How many shows will be scheduled?
A: The number of sessions will be determined based on the overall exhibition period and the duration of each work, and will be scheduled and adjusted after all selected works are confirmed. Based on the previous experience, screening works are typically scheduled for at least 6 shows, while LIVE/real-time performances are generally held at least 4 shows within the same week.
Q14: Is there a recommended size or limit for the output size and image length of the analog image at the time of the proposal?
A: In the proposal stage, it is recommended to use the general FHD specification (1920x1920 or 1920x1080, etc. h264.mp4) that can be played by a computer, or upload it to an online platform. 3-5 minutes long is recommended.
Q15: Important deadlines and dates to remember?
A: All times listed are in Taipei Time (GMT+8):
