Creation/Research Support
Body Filmization Field

Body Filmization Field is a research-creation project co-proposed by the experimental filmmaker Tzu-An WU and the artist Xia LIN. Their collaboration starts from the long-term practices of each other. With their experimentation with the subjects and images of bodies, they “set up” bodies and “produce” embodied images via reflection on visualization of human bodies.

Through research, discussions, fieldwork, and workshops, the team, on the one hand, aims to scrutinize three kinds of bodies in cinemas: bodies represented in films, bodies of audiences (such as the physical senses in cinematic environments and bodily experiences of utilizing technical objects), and bodies of images / screens (such as the organic nature of film-medium or the changeability of the screens); on the other hand, their research on the relationships between bodies and films aims to crystalize various techniques of practices and the cosmologies behind them to return them to the individuals.
