The House of Onomatopoeia No. 2: the world's abodes in boundless transparency

Following the experimental workshop "The House of Onomatopoeia No.1," this project has quietly expanded its scope. In addition to transcribing sounds collected in Taiwan into onomatopoeic and mimetic words, we have also gathered and transcribed sounds from France, Sweden, or Canada into similar onomatopoeic and mimetic clusters.

The layout of each living space varies, and so does the distribution of these onomatopoeic and mimetic clusters. Wooden walls, stone walls, and concrete walls are transformed into a theatrical space of vocal expression in a transparent form: streets, noises, gardens, forests, and animal groups all shimmer within the vibrations of the air. Though people remain on their native soil, it is as if they are guests in a foreign land; they listen as though they are witnessing.

For this onomatopoeic transcription, we have specially invited French flutist Shao-Wei Chou, Swedish experimental musician Girilal Baars, and Canadian improvisational musician Arthur Bull to participate in the onomatopoeic writing process. At the same time, we have invited designer and photographer Ralph KC Wu, as well as visual artist Shake, to collaboratively build this transparent abode.
