Workshop
AI Tools for Intermedia Art

Two workshops will provide an overview of existing systems, notable artworks, and performances related to the workshop topics, as well as cover some technical aspects and theory for general knowledge. They will also present the use of diverse artificial intelligence tools in the context of arts and creativity, such as:
Audio Creation Tools: FluCoMa, TorchAudio
Generative Visuals: Autolume
Interactivity Tools: Livepose, Wekinator, Edge Impulse.

Workshop 1: AI for audio sound bank manipulation and generative visuals
This workshop will introduce and provide hands-on practice with AI tools: FluCoMa for intelligent audio soundbank manipulation as well as Autolume for small data dedicated to custom-tailored generative visuals. Participants will get a broad overview of new practices and available AI tools and try them out through a hands-on activity.

Workshop 2 : AI for interactivity through camera-vision and embedded systems
This workshop will introduce and provide hands-on practice with AI tools for interactivity through camera-vision, machine learning and embedded systems. We will cover tools such as : Livepose and Wekinator for camera-vision motion-recognition, Edge Impulse for embedded AI models facilitating embodied interaction.

Workshop 2: 11/16(SAT) 14:00-17:30
Venue: Spatial Audio Field, TAIWAN SOUND LAB

▌Is a professional background required?
No specific background is necessary. However, individuals with an interest in audio, music, or sound are encouraged to participate. Familiarity with a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) is not required but may enhance the learning experience during the workshop.

▌Are participants required to bring their own laptops and software?
Yes, participants are required to bring their own laptops. It is recommended to download Reaper DAW and Wekinator in advance.

For Workshop 1, advanced participants may also install ComfyUI.
For Workshop 2, please use the DAW you are familiar with, or alternatively, Reaper DAW and Wekinator.

 

Speaker Bio
▌Charles Bicari
Charles Bicari is a system designer and audio producer with degrees in Digital Music (2019) and Computer and Electronic Systems (2023). He works as an integrator and system designer at the Society for Arts and Technology, with research interests focused on new possibilities for artistic interpretation through technological development. His projects involve designing embedded systems for the arts as well as composing immersive sound experiences for live arts and interactive media.

Marek Blottière
Marek Blottière holds a Master's in Cultural and Digital Studies from the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS). During his studies, he was a researcher for the Shaping AI project, where he focused on the Canadian media ecosystem and how it shapes AI cultural policy. In 2023, Marek joined the Innovation team at the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) as a project manager and trainer on arts and AI. Since then, he has been involved in various projects involving collective immersion, interactivity and sound spatialization.
