Dome immersive video workshop via TouchDesigner

This workshop invites video creator and engineer Revlis HUANG to demonstrate the production of 180-degree fisheye (Fisheye/FullDome) images by using TouchDesigner. He also shares methods for capturing footage with fisheye lenses and producing 2D and 3D visuals for projection in dome environments. At the end of the workshop, participants project their experimental results at the DOME of C-LAB's Future Vision Lab and experience real-time audio-visual performances.

This workshop has two sections: lecture & practice

1. Lecture: the lecturer will demonstrate the production of 180-degree fisheye (Fisheye/FullDome) images by using TouchDesigner. Participants can demonstrate steps by steps on your own laptop.

2. Practice: each participant will have 20 minutes to screen your own video works. The lecturer will guide participant one by one from connecting your own laptop to the system to play your own video works. 

 

 

Lecturer|Revlis HUANG

Revlis focuses on light and space constituted by projections or images, creating relationships between sounds, light and visuals while adopting inspiration from daily life to explore the relationships between artificial and natural stimulation in reality. His works include the series of The Interior Travel Project co-created with PANGUTRIAL (2022) and the audiovisual live performance A Scoop of Life at FUTURE VISION LAB@ Hualien (2023).

 

Suggested Participants

1. Those with basic TouchDesigner skills and preferably some experience in 3D production within TouchDesigner.

2. Ability to edit videos and audio (this workshop will not cover video editing tutorials).

3. Experience in audio-visual production is related.

(2) Practice:10.25 (Fri.) 13:30-16:30、17:30-20:30

*This workshop offers two options: (1) attend the lecture only, or (2) attend lecture & practice. Participants only need to choose one time slot for the practice (this choice must be made at the time of registration). 

* Capacity is limited, registration will close once full; no on-site standby will be allowed.

 

Notes *Before registering, please be sure to read the notes carefully. Completing the registration is considered as agreeing to all the contents below.

1. Please install TouchDesigner 2023.11600 (using older versions may prevent you from opening sample files); one of the licenses of the Educational, Commercial, or Pro versions must be installed to output images at 4096x4096 resolution.

2. This workshop includes hands-on practice, so please bring your own laptop (preferably a Windows laptop with an Nvidia dedicated graphics card). Do not bring a desktop computer.

3. It is recommended to bring a mouse with a middle button to facilitate.

4. Participants are not allowed to record audio or video throughout the workshop process.

5. By registering for this workshop, participants agree to grant the organizing party the rights to take photographs, record audio/video, edit, use, publicly broadcast, publicly transmit, publicly screen, and publicly display the images of the signatories for the purpose of documenting this event. This includes all forms of media, including but not limited to film, television, online streaming platforms, social media, and any future invented forms of attachment or dissemination (e.g., public use of personal images, names, and voices).
