When disaster strikes, or even in the face of warfare, what challenges do individuals with disabilities encounter? How many of our existing infrastructures and scenarios are designed exclusively for the "able-bodied"?
This workshop intertwines the concepts of "non-visual" and "civil defense," exploring how to design spatial cognition, communication, and survival support networks under conditions of visual deprivation. Through a physical blindfolded workshop, we compel the body to shift into a non-visual mode of perception. In the second half of the event, we will engage in a dialogue with a non-visual consultant to explore how technologies such as Mesh communication networks and drones can be applied in non-visual or disaster scenarios, and how our professional working environments can adapt and function within a non-visual context.
