Immersive Works Selection: 20-23 highlights the immersive pieces created by Tim WEI from 2020 to 2023, including The World is Whole, and It Has Collapsed, Chaotic Grammar, and Autonomica. All three are experiments in visualizing text and language.
The World is Whole, and It Has Collapsed visually employs large quantities of repeated images, text, symbols, and signals, and acoustically through repeated sounds and language, causing them to reach semantic satiation and subsequently lose their original function.
Chaotic Grammar generates corresponding models and sounds by searching keywords, translating these models into notes in a sequencer. Surreal and strange deductions are initiated through free recombination and mutual misappropriation. By directly confronting chaos, it creates a new space to reorganize the subjective world.
Autonomica is an audio-visual experiment with a program independently written by artificial intelligence. The process of the work continually transposes various objects from urban streetscapes, creating enveloping soundscapes.
Tim WEI, New Media artist, graduated from the Taipei National University of the Arts with a degree in New Media, currently serving as the Art Director for Submarine. Most of his works consist of videos, audio-visuals, and electronic installations. He explores various relationships when text and language are transformed into images, including distortion, cross-referencing, misplacement, and correspondences in cross-narratives.
