With the relentless pace of global technological progress, we find ourselves on the cusp of a profound transformation known as the "Singularity." This concept, first articulated by mathematician and computer scientist Vernor Vinge in 1993, predicts that the moment artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence will unleash an unprecedented "Singularity explosion." This technological revolution is poised to irrevocably alter the course of human civilization.
Inspired by the explosive growth of AI in recent years, WU Dar-Kuen, the curator of C-LAB’s 2024 Future Media Art FEST, developed this year’s annual exhibition around this very concept of singularity. The exhibition unfolds in four chapters: "Fluid Anchor," "Transformation of Creativity," " Creator’s Insights," and "AI Ongoing," showcasing the application of AI technology in art and exploring how technology is influencing the evolution of culture and society.
To further enrich the exploration of this theme, C-LAB will host a series of talks, workshops, and expert-led tours throughout the exhibition's run from October 4th to December 15th, 2024. Experts and scholars from diverse fields, including law, science, culture, artificial intelligence, and cross-media art, will be invited to examine the multifaceted relationship between artificial intelligence and humanity. These discussions will delve into how technological advancements are shaping human life and the very fabric of our society.
