In this talk, Ethan TU will share the mission and achievements of Taiwan AI Labs as Asia's first open AI research institution. Taiwan AI Labs are committed to advancing trustworthy and responsible AI technologies, emphasizing technological transparency and explainability. Not only focused on developing innovative technologies, the Labs also actively participate in the international conversation on AI digital governance to establish global AI standards.
He will also review Taiwan AI Labs' significant accomplishments over the past few years, including their disinformation analysis system, which is designed to safeguard freedom of speech and information transparency by exposing biases and censorship on social media platforms.

▌Ethan TU
Ethan TU is the founding webmaster of PTT, Taiwan's largest BBS site, as well as the founder of the Taiwan AI Labs and chairman of the Taiwan AI Foundation. He previously held positions as the Asia-Pacific Research Director for Microsoft's Artificial Intelligence department and a programmer team leader at the National Human Genome Research Institute in the United States.
In 2017, he returned to Taiwan to establish the Taiwan AI Labs, Asia's first non-profit artificial intelligence research institution. The Labs champion the development of internationally trusted research through open algorithms, source code, and federated learning. He aims to leverage Taiwan's robust software capabilities to foster diverse AI applications, connect industry, academia, and research sectors, and build a thriving digital economy ecosystem. Ultimately, his vision is to create AI from Taiwan that benefits all of humanity.
